- Adaptive renovation of the c.1805 historic landmark
- NCLT’s operational center: offices and meeting spaces, an ADA-compliant entrance and bathroom, a new mudroom, and a catering kitchen
- Renovated second floor for staff housing
- Restored front porch
- Maintenance endowment included
ANDERSON LAND CARE CENTER
- New barn to replace the existing shed
- Land Care Center as stewardship nexus for 400+ acres; model for New Canaan’s 14,400 acres
- Hub of volunteer engagement and education
- Meeting room, workshop, potting shed, and tool storage
- Roof solar paneling
BARBARA JOHANSEN POLLINATOR GARDEN
- An outdoor classroom and demonstration site to showcase and inspire the community
- Features native plants, selected to showcase a variety of pollinators
- Existing stone walls have been rebuilt, and the invasive Trees of Heaven have been removed from the perimeter
NEW TRAIL TO BROWNE PRESERVE
- A new trail connects the headquarters to the 11-acre Brown Preserve, improving access for neighbors and visitors.
- A Torii Gate marks the entrance to ‘nature’ and complements the John Williams Zen Garden
- We added 1+ acre of protected open space
LAND ACQUISITION
- $500K reserved for open space protection
- Community engagement will invigorate NCLT’s capacity
- NCLT's 2020 Strategic Plan aims to double protected land over the next generation
- Land trusts often experience dramatic growth after establishing a permanent headquarters
