Preserving the Future: Campaign Successfully Completed
New Canaan Land Trust is proud to announce the successful completion of its $3.5 million Preserving the Future capital campaign, including gifts received and pledges to be fulfilled over the next three years.
We are deeply grateful to every individual and family whose generosity made this campaign possible and who shared in our vision for the future. Their support strengthens NCLT's ability to care for the land we protect today and conserve additional open space for generations to come.
The $3.5 Million Campaign
Preserving the Future was designed to strengthen NCLT for the long term, with funding for:
- $1.5 million – Purchase and restoration of the historic Grupes House as NCLT's permanent headquarters
- $500,000 – Anderson Land Care Center
- $150,000 – Gardens and landscaping
- $500,000 – Chris Schipper Open Space Fund for future open space acquisition and land stewardship
- $850,000 – Endowment to support the long-term care of the house and campus
The New Canaan Land Trust Campus
The Anderson Land Care Center is now open and serving as a hub for NCLT's stewardship work, as well as a space for volunteers and NCLT's Summer Steward Interns. Contact the NCLT office to schedule a tour.
The Barbara Johansen Pollinator Garden and John Williams Zen Garden are also complete and open to the public. Visitors are welcome to explore the pollinator garden's native plantings and habitat, relax at the picnic tables, and enjoy the Zen Garden as a place for serene and quiet reflection.
Renovation of the historic Grupes House, NCLT's future permanent headquarters, will begin this fall.
The Chris Schipper Open Space Fund is dedicated to future open space acquisition and land stewardship, helping NCLT protect and care for open space in New Canaan. Gifts to the fund can still be made and will strengthen NCLT's ability to protect additional open space and steward the land in our care.
